Discover the cultural, historical, and geographical highlights of Quito and its surroundings on this full-day tour.

We start the day with a guided walk through Quito’s beautifully preserved historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Wander through charming colonial streets, admire elegant plazas, and visit impressive landmarks such as the Plaza Grande, La Compañía de Jesús church, and San Francisco Monastery.

One of the highlights is the Basilica del Voto Nacional. Those who dare can climb the steep towers of this neo-Gothic cathedral for one of the best panoramic views over the city.

Next, we leave the city behind and head north toward the equator. On the way, we stop at a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the Pululahua Crater, one of only a few inhabited volcanic craters in the world.

Then, we visit the Intiñan Museum, located right on the Equator Line. This interactive museum offers fun and educational exhibits about indigenous cultures, geography, and the peculiar physical effects that occur at latitude 0°.

After a day full of culture, nature, and science, we return to Quito in the late afternoon.

Ontdek de culturele, historische en geografische hoogtepunten van Quito en omgeving tijdens deze afwisselende dagtour.

We beginnen de dag met een wandeling door het historisch centrum van Quito, dat op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat. Dwaal door sfeervolle koloniale straatjes, bewonder elegante pleinen en bezoek indrukwekkende bezienswaardigheden zoals de Plaza Grande, de kerk La Compañía de Jesús en het San Francisco-klooster.

Een van de hoogtepunten is de beklimming van de Basilica del Voto Nacional. Voor wie geen last heeft van hoogtevrees biedt de klim naar de torens een spectaculair uitzicht over de stad en de omringende vulkanen.

Vervolgens verlaten we de stad en rijden we in noordelijke richting naar de evenaar. Onderweg maken we een fotostop bij het uitzichtpunt over de indrukwekkende Pululahua-krater, een van de weinige bewoonde vulkaankraters ter wereld.

Daarna brengen we een bezoek aan het Intiñan-museum, dat precies op de evenaar ligt. Dit interactieve museum biedt leuke en leerzame demonstraties over inheemse culturen, geografie en bijzondere natuurverschijnselen die alleen op breedtegraad 0° plaatsvinden.

Na een dag vol cultuur, natuur en wetenschap keren we aan het eind van de middag terug naar Quito.
