Ecuador Hiker was founded by Helen, a local from Quito, and René, originally from the Netherlands but living in Ecuador since 2007. Together, they share a deep passion for Ecuador’s diverse landscapes, cultures, and wildlife—and for creating unforgettable travel experiences.

René has worked in tourism for many years and has explored much of the country, from the Amazon rainforest to the high Andes and the Galápagos Islands. His extensive knowledge and international background allow him to understand what travelers are looking for and how to deliver it with care and authenticity.

Helen has a strong background in designing customized trips for international travelers. With her local insight and attention to detail, she has crafted countless tailor-made itineraries that reflect the true spirit of Ecuador.

Day Trip to Mindo – Nature, Waterfalls & Adventure in the Cloud Forest

Full-day excursion from Quito This tour takes you to the lush cloud forest of Mindo , just a two-hour drive from Quito. Mindo is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers, known for its incredible biodiversity, waterfalls, and fun outdoor activities in a vibrant green setting. We leave Quito in the morning and head northwest through scenic Andean landscapes as we descend into the cloud forest. One of the highlights of the day is a visit to the Mindo waterfalls . To reach them, we cross a deep valley using a tarabita (an open cable car), followed by a short hike through the forest to several beautiful waterfalls. Here, you can relax, take photos, or even go for a refreshing swim. The rest of the day is flexible and can be customized to your interests.
